Specialized Services

  • Riverside Family Medicine Founder, Dr. Colt, may be the only double fellowship trained professional in the fields of sexual and gender health. He has taught the Psychology of Human Sexuality course for undergraduate students for over a decade and sought out opportunities to make sure that patients could receive sensitive and trauma-informed care for such a personal topic as sexual health. At Riverside Family Medicine, our providers use a universal precautions approach in that we do not make any assumptions about our patients’ previous sexual experiences, identities, or healthcare experiences and empower our patients throughout sensitive discussions and exams. A chaperone is required during sensitive exams for the protection of patients and providers, this is typically a nurse or medical assistant, however patients can talk to their provider about bringing a trusted loved one to be with them during sensitive exams and/or procedures. This service is included at no additional cost for members and is $500 for non-members.

  • Due to the specialized nature of our practice, patients come from all over to see us. As destination medicine patients are not able to take advantage of all that a full DPC membership has to offer, we see destination medicine patients who are physically located in the state of New York at the time of service.

  • Have you tried everything to cut down or quit using a substance? Still not quite at your goal yet? You will meet with both a mental health provider and a medical provider who will use an open-ended, non-judgmental style to support you with your goals for health behavior change. We are uniquely suited to support you with evidence based motivational interviewing techniques and review medications available to you to help reduce cravings. This is included in the cost of membership and $500 for non-members for first time visit and 350 for follow up visits.

  • Have you been struggling to figure out why traditional antidepressant or ADHD medications or psychotherapies have not worked for you? Do you wonder if you have Bipolar Disorder, PTSD, ADHD, Autism, or other psychiatric conditions but have not been able to undergo testing for these? Our psychologist, Dr. Colt has extensive training and experience with helping patients to answer these questions using psychological testing.

Psychological testing is a formal process of administering tests that help to identify behavioral and cognitive patterns, diagnose mental health conditions, and assess an individual's personality, abilities, and interests. Tests are designed to measure a variety of factors, including emotional intelligence, personality, mental aptitude, and neurological functioning. Psychological testing can be used to assess an individual's strengths and weaknesses, identify areas of concern, and develop a treatment plan. At this time, Dr. Colt is taking new testing patients who are ages 12 or older. Members receive a $500 discount on testing services which range from $3500-4000.

  • Ketamine therapy is a treatment that uses low doses of ketamine, a medication primarily used for anesthesia, to treat certain mental health conditions. Dr. Colt was first introduced to Ketamine treatments for Veterans suffering from PTSD, treatment resistant depression, and suicidal ideation in 2014 when he was working as a research coordinator. He completed training to provide Ketamine therapy through the Psychedelic Research and Training Institute (PRATI) in Colorado in 2024.

Ketamine works differently from traditional antidepressant medications. It affects different neurotransmitter systems in the brain, which may explain why it can be effective for people who haven't responded to other treatments. Ketamine therapy is given intravenously, intramuscularly, or as an oral medication. The effects of ketamine can vary from person to person, but some people report feeling more relaxed, calm, and hopeful after treatment. We recommend that patients who are interested in Ketamine therapy enroll in psychotherapy with a therapist who is trained in Ketamine Assisted Psychotherapy.

  • Medication infusions, also known as IV therapy, are a method of delivering fluids directly into the bloodstream through an intravenous (IV) line. This allows for rapid and efficient effects of treatment, bypassing the digestive system. IV medications provided at Riverside Family Medicine include Ketamine, Hydration, and Migraine medications.

Hydration infusions typically consist of a sterile saline solution, which is a mixture of water and electrolytes, such as sodium, potassium, and magnesium. These electrolytes are essential for maintaining proper bodily functions and are commonly depleted after episodes of heavy alcohol drinking, vomiting, or periods of restricting food intake. For migraines that do not stop after usual medication treatment, patients may benefit from IV medication such as Reglan, Phenergan, Compazine, or Magnesium.
