Primary Care
Primary care that has time for you
Riverside Family Medicine is a Direct Primary Care practice, which means we do not bill insurance companies. You pay a flat monthly membership fee, and in return you get longer visits, faster scheduling, and direct access to your doctor when you need it.
Visits run anywhere from 30 to 120 minutes, because real conversations take time. Dr. Colt is trained as both a clinical psychologist and a family medicine physician, so your mental health and your physical health get looked at together instead of split between two offices that never talk to each other.
You are treated as the expert in your own experience here. We bring the medical training, you bring everything you know about your body and your life, and the decisions get made together.
What we take care of
Annual wellness visits and preventive screenings, including cervical and anal pap exams handled in a trauma informed way. Ongoing management of chronic conditions like diabetes, high blood pressure, and thyroid disease. Sick visits when something comes up.
Sexual health is a core part of what we do. That includes STI testing and treatment, contraception counseling, PrEP for HIV prevention, and honest conversations without assumptions about your body, your partners, or your history.
We also prescribe and manage medications, including psychiatric medications, and we order and interpret your labs. One thing we do not do: we do not prescribe opiate pain medication for chronic pain, and we are glad to refer you to a pain medicine specialist if that is what you need.

Longer visits, transparent pricing, and a doctor who knows your name, your history, and what actually matters to you.

Do you accept insurance, Medicare, or Medicaid?
We accept all patients, insured or not, but we do not bill insurance, Medicare, or Medicaid for our services. Your insurance can still cover labs, imaging, medications, specialists, and hospital care that we order. Patients with Medicare or Medicaid simply sign a waiver saying neither you nor your doctor will bill those programs for our visits.
Who can join as a member?
Full Direct Primary Care membership is open to patients located in New York State. If you are in Texas or Minnesota, Dr. Colt is licensed there as well and can see you by telehealth for services like psychiatric medication management, sexual health, and hormone therapy.
Should I still carry health insurance if I become a member?
Yes. Membership covers your primary care, not the big things like surgery, hospitalization, or cancer treatment. Most members pair us with a low premium, high deductible plan or a medical cost sharing plan for those situations.
Is there a limit to how many patients you take?
Yes, and that is on purpose. Dr. Colt is one person, and enrollment is capped so that every patient keeps the time, access, and attention that make this model work.
