Psychological Assessment
Answers you can actually use
Sometimes treatment stalls because the question underneath it was never properly asked. Psychological testing is how you find out what is actually going on, instead of trying another medication and hoping this one lands.
Dr. Colt assesses for ADHD, autism, learning disorders, intellectual functioning, anxiety, depression, PTSD, bipolar and mood disorders, personality disorders, and behavioral concerns. He is currently accepting testing patients ages 12 and older.
How the process works
It starts with a comprehensive biopsychosocial intake interview with one of our intake specialists, usually somewhere between one and three hours. Dr. Colt reviews that interview and chooses which tests fit your specific questions, so nobody sits through a battery they did not need.
Testing follows, by telehealth or in the office, and generally takes one to three visits. It can include questionnaires, computer based tasks, and measures of reasoning and achievement.
Then comes the part that matters most. Dr. Colt writes a full report with diagnoses and recommendations, and sits down with you in a feedback session to go through it. You leave understanding what the results mean and what to do with them.

Comprehensive testing with a clinical psychologist, ending in a written report and a real conversation about what it means.

Who can be tested?
Dr. Colt is currently accepting testing patients ages 12 and older. Testing is available for patients in New York, and depending on the referral question, some patients in Texas may qualify as well.
How long does the whole process take?
Plan on an intake interview of one to three hours, then one to three testing visits, then a feedback session once the report is written. The exact timeline depends on the questions being asked and how quickly visits can be scheduled.
Do members pay less for testing?
Yes. Direct Primary Care members receive a discount on psychological testing. Contact the practice for current pricing, since the cost varies with the scope of the evaluation.
What do I get at the end?
A comprehensive written report with diagnoses and recommendations, and a feedback session where Dr. Colt goes through it with you. Many patients use the report for school or workplace accommodations, treatment planning, or documentation.
